Recently, it has come to my attention that words that I have been using to describe certain tropes in pornographic fiction have become problematic to people in the transgender community. While I personally believe that some terms should not be used to describe people in real life, I also felt that a unified terminology is necessary for fans of certain kinds of works to find and enjoy the content.
So, I want to make clear my policy on various "slurs," that are used in my fiction. First of all, I don't want to offend people with my work. I want people to enjoy my stories and have fun reading sexy tales about sexy characters. Secondly, I cannot keep up on the ever-evolving nature of language. Third, I write so many stories and re-upload so many old things on a regular basis, that editing them will be a monumental task. I cannot go and change every last thing I wrote, or I would never be able to get any of my new stuff done.
So, where does that leave us?
Basically, if it comes to my attention that a term I have been using is considered a slur by a significant amount of people, I will remove it from my vocabulary. English is an ever-evolving language, and I can make do with changing things. There might be a bit of a delay, though, as I try to have stories ready for posting up to three months in advance, whenever I can. Depending on my funding situation, stories may even be written and ready to go much longer than that, so change might be slow from the public side of things.
Secondly, I can't go back and change everything in every version I make of a story, so if I reupload an old story that uses something that's considered offensive now, it may still contain the offending terminology.
Don't think I'm being asympathetic, here. I will avoid offensive terms in my future works, and I am open to learning about new, appropriate alternatives to terms that I grew up with using.
I hope you all continue to enjoy The Adventures of Tik Tik! And I hope to learn and grow.
